In a heartwarming gesture of community support, the Selebi Phikwe Softball Extravaganza in partnership with SPEDU and Selebi Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) collectively contributed a generous donation of P30,000.00 to be shared equally amount the six (6) Selebi Phikwe Junior Schools for their prize-giving ceremonies. The contribution aims to encourage academic excellence and recognise the hard work of learners.

Recently, a high-level gathering brought together key stakeholders to push the establishment of the Mophane Cargo International Airport into reality. The meeting was addressed by  Minister of State President Honourable Moeti C. Mohwasa, along with Assistant Ministers Honourable Keoagile Atamelang for Transport and Infrastructure and Honourable Baratiwa Mathoothe for the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship.

The SPEDU Board of Directors recently underwent a formal induction ceremony, followed by an on-site tour of SPEDU facilitated projects. Members on the Board were all newly appointed, bringing fresh perspectives and a shared commitment to SPEDU’s mission of revitalising and diversifying the SPEDU region.

Acting SPEDU CEO Mr. Othata Batsetswe dropped in for a meet-and-greet session and a tour of the Selebi Phikwe Citrus (SPC) farm. Since their first harvest in 2024, SPC has achieved remarkable production growth, jumping from 5,000 tonnes to 20,000 tonnes in just one year. This fourfold increase is a testament to the project’s commitment to best agricultural practices, solid management, and strategic investment.

Mr. Batsetswe is a seasoned transformational leader with extensive experience in economic and financial development, performance improvement, project management, and strategic business advisory. He has held senior leadership positions across government, the private sector, and international development institutions, demonstrating a strong track record of driving sustainable growth and innovation.
